Vzdelanie
Humana People to People toto potvrdzuje a už v roku 1993 ADPP Mozambik začala v spolupráci s vládou Mozambiku vzdelávať učiteľov základných škôl pre vidiecku školu.
Členovia Humana People to People podpísali dohody s ministerstvami školstva o založení a prevádzke vysokých škôl vychovávajúcich učiteľov v Angole (17), Malawi (6), Mozambiku (12), Kongu (1), Zambii (8) a Guinea Bissau (7).
V Indii je plánom pokračovať v zavádzaní programu v rámci Obvodného inštitútu pre vzdelávanie a výchovu vo viacerých štátoch a tiež v rámci iných inštitúcií.

India - The Teacher Training Program
The DNS India Teacher Training Program is a modern and innovative pre-service teacher training aimed at training teachers that are skilled in child-centered and participatory education as well as committed to the welfare of every single child in the class. The training builds on a continuous dialectic process between theory and practice and places the students in challenging and demanding situations. The DNS-trained teachers are knowledgeable about the local community and the wider society and committed to the change thereof. She is prepared to work in remote rural areas within its prevailing preconditions and to work with the community to improve both school and community. It is HPPI’s vision to work with a number of states to improve the training of primary school teachers in the state through a long-term and comprehensive cooperation with the District Institutes of Education and Training, DIETs.
HPPI started its DNS India Teacher Training Programme at the Bastar DIET in Chhattisgarh in August 2009. A team of four HPPI trainers were stationed at the Bastar DIET and implemented the program in cooperation with the principal and staff at the DIET. The students followed the DNS India program with the State curriculum integrated in the DNS program and sat for the examinations organized by the State Board.
One year later HPPI was asked to implement the DNS India program in another two DIETs, Jashpur and Korea. HPPI is currently in talks with another six states about possible cooperation for the training of teachers.
The DNS India Programme is organized in 22 periods over 2 years, each of four weeks duration. Each period has a headline to give direction and focus to the studies, discussions and activities in that particular period. Most of the periods have extensive school practice in the nearby primary schools. Other characteristics are Saturdays with pedagogical sessions together with the primary school teachers, and theme weeks where the students go in depth with a particular subject.
The basic organization of the students is the Function Groups with 5 students together and the Bigger Groups of 25 students. In these groups the students develop their social life skills – carrying out the humble activities like cleaning and maintenance as well as contributing to the development of their own education through their active participation in the program.
The main study method, which is used at all 30 DNSs in Denmark, Africa and India, is called DMM (Definition of Modern Methods). The curriculum is organized in tasks to be selected and solved individually (called Studies) by access to a comprehensive database. Additionally, there are lively and challenging class instructions by the lecturers (called Courses), and personal and joint experiences (called Experiences) are also part of the point system for each student.
The organization of the program creates a necessary framework of progress and inventiveness around the fundamental concept of putting the student in the driver’s seat of his or her own training.

Malawi - Vocational Training Schools
DAPP sees it as a contribution to the general development efforts to keep on training youth in vocational skills in corporation with the Government of Malawi and TEVETA. The DAPP Vocational School in Mikolongwe in the district of Chiradzulu has an immediate effect on the person who gets trained as he or she acquires skills, which will make it possible to get employment or to create self employment.
The Vocational School aims at training a new generation of young people, who are able to master their own lives and become a resource with a passion to contribute to the development of their own country. The idea is to offer young people (18-25 years old) a 1-2 year vocational training program in a number of demanding theoretical and practical subjects such as agriculture, community development, financial accounting, tailoring and construction. The students are taught numerous skills – thus building their human and intellectual capacity to obtain formal employment or create self-employment upon graduation. The companies participating in this part of the program are true partners of the school, as they provide hands-on-training. Mozambique - Education
Presently, Mozambique faces high rates of school drop-out and failure due to a general lack of quality education. Alongside this, the Government expects to reach the target of Education for All by the year 2015. ADPP has joined this Government’s effort by establishing Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), also known as ...
“Schools for the Teachers of the Future” (EPFs).
The first EPF was established in 1993 as a way to contribute to the teacher training program carried out by the Government of Mozambique. An agreement with the Ministry of Education was signed for the implementation of 12 EPFs. To date, 11 EPFs have been established - one in each province – except Nampula province which has two EPFs.The objective of the EPF is to train teachers for primary schools in the rural areas. The training is designed to create a new generation of teachers who will take child centered education to the rural areas and in this way contribute to its development.
This influences change in the new generation of teachers for the rural areas by not only developing the schools but also the community. The teacher training is based on participation methods through a system called DMM (Modern Determination of Methods). This method places the student in the center within his/her own training and make use of a computer system in which the whole curriculum is digitized. The program, the curriculum and the DMM work in harmony to qualify and train teachers to improve conditions in rural areas. This involves not only teaching in schools and building the character of future generations, but also training and organizing future teachers to contribute to the fight against poverty within rural communities.
To ensure a high quality of education of the Teachers of the Future, ADPP has established the Higher Institute for Education and Technology/One World University (ISET/OWU) which is devoted to higher level instructor training for education, economics and management, rural and environmental development and information technologies. The Institute for Higher Education and Technology (ISET), known as One World University, presently offers two bachelor level courses: “Trainers of Teacher Training” and “Fighting Shoulder to Shoulder with the Poor”. ISET/OWU has been accredited to perform academic courses and bachelor and master level degrees with national qualifications and certifications.
Mozambique - Vocational Schools
The vocational training has been defined by the Ministry of Education of Mozambique as essential in the creation of qualified man power for economic growth and poverty eradication. ADPP decided to contribute to this effort by establishing Vocational Schools in Nacala (Nampula province), Nhamatanda (Sofala province) and Maputo (Maputo province). ADPP Mozambique established its first vocational school in Maputo in 1985. Currently, 670 students are enrolled annually.
The training curriculum combines theoretical and practical elements, including school subjects and general knowledge. The skills training takes center stage, and a fruitful exchange between studies in the classroom and practical exercises in the workshops or in the fields is fundamental. Periods of internship in commercial companies, farms or institutions are a valuable part of the program. This is also an important period for students to experience the reality of working life, comparing it with what the students may have learnt at the school. After completion of internship, the students enter into their first job.
All vocational schools have a boarding regime whereby the students and teachers take part in the running of their institution. Planning, preparation and implementation as well as increased personal responsibility are some of the skills that students acquire as result of their active participation in school life. Students are encouraged to take part in cultural and sports activities as well to lead healthy life styles as an important part of their personal development.
ADPP’s vocational schools operate in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and have proved to be effective in producing graduates capable of sustaining themselves in self-employment or as part of a company. The vocational schools are of great importance, as a key contribution to the education system, the youth, and the society in general. ADPP Mozambique will continue to be a role model for other educational institutions in order to provide inspiration for the main-stream education system and to supply the sector with examples of modern teaching practices which have been developed and tested within the country.
Training Program
The vocational schools train youth in order for them to join the job market as informal or formal workers and earn their livelihoods.
The vocational skills available are:
- Agriculture where students acquire skills to equip them to start agro-commercial ventures or seek employment in an agricultural company.
- Business Management where graduates gain skills to run a small scale business, marketing products, managing cash flows, dealing with human relations and understand the main commercial sectors in Mozambique.
- Construction where the graduates acquire the most important techniques in the building trade enabling the graduate to start small-scale businesses or join construction companies.
- Community Instructors where students are trained to plan, mobilize and lead community actions. A very applicable course in Mozambique given the number of development aid implementing programs.
- Hotel and Tourism skills help students establish a strong background in customer service and are essential for those who wish to be part of the fast-developing tourist industry in Mozambique or develop their own tourism venture.
The schools offer a 2-year intensive boarding school training program. All general subjects like History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Civics and Morality, English, Portuguese, Mathematics, and Technical Design are covered during training. The program has extra curriculum activities in the evenings and weekends such as sports and culture programs.
The programs and courses are developed according to various aspects that influence the specific location of each school. The most important of these aspects is its relevance for the development of the area where the school is located. The vocational schools reach high standards of success in its developmental project by making the school the center for development of the region. Equally important is that vocational schools are constantly monitoring the evolution of the job market in order to ensure its training continues to be relevant.
Higher Education ISET/OWU – Instituto Superior de Educação e Tecnologia/One World University
ISET/OWU was created in 1998 with the idea of training professionals in the field of education and poverty alleviation. The teachers are trained to bachelors level. The participants will train the future teachers at the ADPP Schools for the Teachers of the Future in Mozambique and Angola. In January 2001 the course at the ISET/OWU was recognized by the Universidade Pedagogica (UP) in Maputo. In 2004 ISET/OWU signed a Memorandum of understanding with UP securing a certificate for the graduates.
In 2005 the plans and programs for the institution were approved by the Council of Ministers of Mozambique, with the Decreto nº 33/2005, Boletim da República, I Série – número 33, as a private university. It was accredited to deliver academic courses and degrees to the level of Bachelor and Masters with a national recognized qualification and was given its official name ISET – Instituto Superior de Educação e Technologia.
The Federation Humana People to People, together with its country associations currently operate 22 TTCs in close co-operation with the governments of Angola, Malawi and Mozambique with the aim of training multi skilled primary school teachers specifically for the rural areas.
One World University was created to train and educate teachers for the TTCs and since its beginnings, the university has graduated 190 trainees with a bachelor degree in Education who are now working at the TTCs as well at the teachers training institutions of the Government of Mozambique.
In October 2008, a new course, “Community Development – Fighting with the Poor” was introduced. The course and the world first bachelor degree has been created by Humana People to People, inspired by his Excellency the President of Mozambique, Armando Emilio Guebuza, with the aim of contributing in the struggle against poverty.
On the 21st November 2008, ISET/OWU was inaugurated by President Guebuza, Armando Emilio Guebuza.
